1926 Marion Lake Pine Fir Trees British Columbia Canada - ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE - Original Photogravure
This is an original 1926 photogravure of Marion Lake in the Province of British Columbia (Columbie Britannique, Britisch Columbien, Columbia Britannica), Canada. (Please note that there is printing on the reverse.)
Period Paper is pleased to offer an exceptional collection of historic original photogravures of the architecture, landscape, and people of Canada. The actual border around the photogravure is larger than what is shown in the digital image and each image usually has a caption in English, French, German, and Italian which will be included with the item when shipped. However, we wanted to show you the actual image up close and the dimensions provided next to the "Size" above indicate the size of the actual photogravure only. The total size is approximately two inches larger in width and height. These original photogravures are not to be confused with the more common halftone prints. Each of these photogravures was created from an engraved plate and provides exceptional detail, contrast, warmth, and depth, making them excellent original images for framing.
The Photogravure Process. A photogravure is a photographic image produced from an engraving plate--an expensive and rarely used process today. Through the transfer of etching ink from an etched copperplate to special dampened paper run through an etching press, this process creates an image that registers an extraordinary variety of tones. This unique tonal range comes from photogravure's variable depth of etch--the shadows are etched many times deeper than the highlights unlike the halftone processes that merely vary dot size. The prints produced via this process have the subtle tones of a photograph and the art quality of a lithograph, making them extraordinarily collectible items.

Throughout recorded history, man has used wood
products for shelter, fire and warfare, making wood
an integral part civilization. Americans use hundreds of wood
products everyday, and without proper management and utilization of the trees in our forests the lumber and fibers we need to build homes, furniture, paper and boxes or the chemicals needed for commercial, industrial and pharmaceutical uses may not be available. Timber harvesting has moved closer to sustainable yeild in the last century; there are 747 million acres of forestland in the United States, about 71% as much as there was in 1630. Today, the United States has about the same amount of land covered by trees (or slightly less) as it did in 1907.
Each person in the U.S. uses about 74.5 ft3 of timber products each year. The U.S. is the world’s largest consumer of forest products and the second largest producer (after Canada). The U.S. accounts for 15% of the world trade in forest products. The forest products sector, although small in comparison to the rest of the U.S. economy, is significant on a global scale, as demonstrated by the fact that the U.S. exports and imports of wood
products total $150 billion yearly.
Like most first world, industrialized nations, our standard of living and daily conveniences are leveraged against the environ
mental, aesthetic, and emotional impact of our surroundings. Rationalzation is easy when the physical consequences are out of sight, as they are much easier out of mind.
These Birty Dirds, are the turdiest little things on the planet.
I got wise to them and stopped filling the 3 or 5 feeders that we put out for them, only to watch them empty the whole thing in a matter of a few hours. I purchased a metal bakers rack at a used furniture place the other day, so now, I just put out a couple of different dishes each with a 1/2 cup or so of food at a time. I thought it would be nice to give them a drink along with the food but..................
Now each night I am able to sweep up the mess from the sidewalk, then hose the poop away. Steve will be building a few things for the seed when time permits but till then it is nice to be able to clean up the mess that they make..
